Infants and children require vitamins and minerals for their growth and development, initially provided through breast milk and later from food starting around 6 months of age. However, the need for some vitamins and minerals in the early years of life can only be met through supplements. Vitamins A and D are among these essential compounds. According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health in Iran, all infants should receive 1500 units of Vitamin A and at least 400 units of Vitamin D through supplements from birth. Kinder A+D drops contain appropriate doses of these vitamins for infants and children under two years old.
Vitamin A: This fat-soluble vitamin plays a crucial role in growth, immune system strengthening, and bone development. It is also part of the structure of visual pigments. Vitamin A deficiency is a common nutritional problem in infants and children, increasing the risk of infectious diseases and diarrhea. Inadequate Vitamin A leads to damage to mucous membrane tissues (skin, eye mucosa, respiratory, digestive, and urinary tracts) and compromises immune function, making children more susceptible to viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections.
Vitamin D: As a fat-soluble vitamin, Vitamin D is essential for immune system enhancement. Adequate intake of Vitamin D helps prevent and treat diseases, including infectious diseases, and its deficiency increases the likelihood of diseases in infants and children. Additionally, Vitamin D enhances calcium absorption and reduces its excretion, crucial for bone growth. Insufficient Vitamin D can lead to rickets (softening of bones) in children. All infants should receive their required Vitamin D through supplements from birth.
